We will be happy to advise and act as your agent with regard to obtaining the relevant permissions

Ask a Tree Surgeon

 Every professional or

Competent tree surgeon will know about the relevant British standards. In particular BS3998 this standard is such an integral part of all tree works and every competent tree surgeon knows it back to front and inside out. Anyone purporting to be a Tree surgeon who does not have an encyclopedic knowledge of the principles if not the text of B.S 3998 should be sent on there way. If you are kind you will give them some oats for their horse

What is a Tree Surgeon?

We in common with most professionals in the Tree care industry like to be called Arborists rather than tree surgeons. Most Arborists have years of experience, qualifications and care for trees where as most tree surgeons have tarmacing and collecting scrap metal as side lines

Tree Service Ltd

Our tree company is staffed by fully qualified Arborists with has years of experience in all aspects of tree surgery planting and subsequent maintenance of trees.

From planting a single tree to creating a sustainable bio diverse woodland establishing dead wood habitats for invertebrates. We offer the complete package from initial planning through planting to the all important maintenance

We will carry out an initial inspection of your tree and provide you with an assessment of the works required a specification of the works and an estimate for the cost of carrying out the works.

We will then submit applications and obtain the necessary permissions from the relevant authorities, carry out risk assessment and produce a method statement and Emergency plan.

Only once all the paper work is in order can we start work. This is important for you as the client as if the correct paperwork is not in place the client can become liable for third party claims, action form the health and safety executive and stringent penalties from planning authorities usually in excess of £2000.00.

All our Tree work is to specification which is compliant with the relevant British Standard. In arboriculture this is predominantly but not exclusively bs3998 and BS 5837. These are referred to in the relevant pages of the web site and on the specification page

We Donít Offer

Topping (except for hedging, Fruit tree and specialist pruning)

In common with all reputable arborists we do not lop or top as these technique do not work. They increase the production of poorly attached endomorphic growths making the crown very dense and increasing the overall size of the crown. These practices always harm the tree and either kill the tree or make it so unsafe that felling is required.

There are exceptions for example conifers to be used for hedging.

However we are always happy to advise on alternative tree pruning methods
